As I prepare to launch my new print, "Day in the Country," I feel it’s time to share a surprising truth about its inspiration.
Growing up, horses were a big part of my life—fox hunting, steeplechase races, and two sisters who were talented riders. Despite this, I’ve always harbored a deep fear of horses, stemming from a biting incident in my youth. This fear persisted even as I found myself surrounded by the equestrian world, from Madison Square Garden to Berlin’s equestrian stores.
Ironically, I have a great affection for equestrian fashion. My favorite riding boots, worn daily for their quality and design, are a testament to this passion. I even attempted a horse ride across Inner Mongolia, though the experience, with its wooden saddle and my own apprehensions, was less enjoyable than anticipated.
“Day in the Country” celebrates the charm of rural equestrian scenes—horses in motion, playful dogs, and the essence of country life. It’s a tribute to the equestrian world that I admire from a distance. This print reflects my love for the equestrian lifestyle and the wonderful community of horse enthusiasts, even if my own riding skills leave much to be desired.
I’m thrilled to share "Day in the Country" and celebrate the beauty of the equestrian world, despite my personal fears.
